Working out of upstate New York, he turned out well over a hundred novels in roughly fifteen years. He's since gained a cult following for writing about working-class people, small-town hustlers and money troubles more realistically than the lurid covers suggest.

The cover art. Attribution is a bit tangled. Some sources credit George Geygan, but collectors have linked the painting to Walter Popp. It appears to be the same artwork used earlier on Janet Pritchard's Country Club Cheat (Uni-Books 68, 1953). Reusing art across titles was common at budget publishers.
